Painted from a sketch made while witnessing the Aurora Borealis display on a clear cold night in Saskatchewan one night in the early to mid 1940's.
Painted sometime during the later part of family's return to Saltcoats (Saskacthewan) years after (1942-1945)
This painting appears on page 165 of volume 2 of the Paintings of Charles F Highfield Authoured by Daisy Lloyd Highfield (1914-1990).
